Tour Videos

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Some of you may not have seen the tour video blogs from the 2008 dates. Check out the vidz below and realise how glamourous life on the open road is for a band with some instruments, a much loved and trusty white van and a never ending desire to eat hot food and sleep through the night in a warm place. It was fun and looking forward to seeing you all and doing it again soon - x viva

Video Shoot - Behind The Scenes

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Yo Sportsfans, Dai here. To kick off the site and all that stuff, here’s what happened last Thursday. We shot a video. Yes!

2.30AM. I rise from the warm, comfortable bed in which I had spent a mere 3 blissful hours after a VERY long day. Undeterred by this duvet and mattress time deprivation, I shower, dress and eat (shuffling around like a near-death OAP).

Now, I don’t know how many of you have loaded a van up to the brim with heavy equipment. But those of you who have will know it isn’t easy, and it gets harder at 3am when you’re semi-conscious in a dark lane. Still, must’nt grumble. We hit the road and braced ourselves for the day ahead.

8.30AM. We arrive at the set – an old care home in Saaarf East London, and are greeted by the friendly faces of the producers, director and crew of the shoot. We sit around moaning about the hour, watching Jeremy Kyle have ago at clubbers in Ibiza and waiting for our cue to rock.

11.00AM. Chris starts his green-screen shizz. Rocks out so hard for so long he pukes pure Red Bull outside (footage soon! YAY). Then it’s Tom’s turn to go crazy to a backing track in a small room to about 10 people doing their jobs and looking thoughtful. Surreal. It continues like this, taking turns ‘till lunch at about 3.30pm.

4.00PM. After some rather lovely food courtesy of one of the producers’ mum (the caterer had pulled out the day before) and a fight outside involving bottles and a golf club, we got back to work on group shots. We spent the next many hours trying to play whilst being pelted with debris. Over and over again from every angle we were exposed, beaten and abused. Stiff upper lip though ey? Sawdust, ceiling tiles and more found their way into every nook and cranny of our gear AND our poor, broken bodies.

10.00PM. Yaaaay! Shoot is over and we can all go home….or can we? NO! The very talented – but hard-pushing – director decides there is one more scene to do, and I think he needed us to sweat our balls out through our armpits to get the right feel. In all the venues we’ve played, I’ve never ever known such heat. About 12 MASSIVE lights pointed at me, the nearest one probably a foot from the back of my neck. BURN!

11.30PM. WRAP!!!!!! All done, but no champagne for us. No no, We have to now shake ourselves off (ooh errr), pack up and then load out. It’s a luxury kinda life. Homeward bound!

3.30AM. On the way home I begin to hallucinate - seeing large rams running away from the van, two tunnels turning into a Stegosaurus, run down the hard shoulder and other anomalies. When I got home I worked out that I had not slept in 26 hours and had only slept for 3 hours out of the previous 42 - ROCK.

5.00. BED!

A day in the life of D.P.Francais.
